AVID Weekly

The last time i made a difference for the live for more than one person when i was doing community service hours at an elder home. I would help them by either walking them down to the auditorium or push them in their wheelchairs down to play games with them. Such games like bingo and goldfish, helping them play there cards and when to circle their numbers. We would also play songs and listen to the one of the workers there read the newspaper. Until my time was done and I had to help them back to their rooms and wait till next week to put a smile on their faces. Its a great experience and really lets me take advantages of my well being and heath.

If we don't begin producing graduate and doctoral students interested in the field a lot of things will starting changing in the fields of doctors. The research to fight different diseases and find cures will slow down and may lead to more deaths that could be prevented. Also new discovers for the field for astronomy will decrease and will effect our limits and expectations. Another problem would be for the world to keep up with the fast past evolution with the decrease of graduates in the field. We also might lose our leadership for the field of science and not contribute as much as we would like to because the less minds we having working for the united states of america the less chance we have for being successful and find greatness.

1st quater

This 1st quater has been going by very well for myself. I feel that i have almost adjust to the style of class and am begging to really like it. The homework's, mini quizzes, and test really reflect on the classwork and are good to reflect upon of my knowledge of the classwork. I feel that my grade for the progress report is very accurate. The reason is i have been doing all of my homework and doing decent on most of the mini quizzes that have been given. although the tests aren't as good and understandably are brining down my grade.

e online book

No i dont think that e online books are useful in many different ways, but the main ones are that it leads to many distractions, isn't as easy to use and cant mark or highlight as well. This all leads to not paying attention and being inattentive in class and if there is anything in short supply among students theses days, it attentiveness. online textbooks arent good in a study form because it is harder to figure out how to write notes and highlight words and phrases that you dont understand or that are important and useful. With a regular textbook you can do all of that and be more aware and not get off track into other things that you could do on a computer or tablet that you couldnt do with a regualr textbook. Ive never used them before but i am 50/50 when it comes to how interested and excited i am about them. it would be nice to not have to carry around big textbooks and pull them up on any computer, but i wouldnt like the way of how i cant mark up the pages and write notes to myself about the reading. Also the attraction of either do my reading or play angry birds for hours. I do find technology in general useful to my education in many different ways and forms. Although the main ones that increase education is the way to spread work around when we aren't right next to them or looking at others people work from all across the world without traveling there. Another advantage technology is, is that it can catch mistakes that you don't catch by yourself. Its like having your own  personal editor with you at all times. Also the way that you can have so many things on to one object and not having to worry about losing it as easily or carrying so much that you will get a workout from it. Overall the new technology in our life is very useful and effective towards my education and most likely others as well. One example from the article that inspired my thought in me was, "And if there's anything in short supply among students these days, its attentiveness". It really shows that lack of effort and the lack of just paying attention to what can change the rest of you life so many kids do not do. it would be even worse if they had the ability to go online and play angry birds go on Facebook and twitter without the teacher knowing would hurt there education even more. Another quote from the reading that interested me was,"500 undergraduates at the University of California were asked to compare printed books with e books. most of the students said they still preferred reading form pages rather than from screens". Showing that even adults cant keep focus or have a hard time not being able to mark down notes and flip pages with their own two hands. Lastly is the distractions technology can sometimes bring, like when,"Theres always the temptation to click on a link, check an email, monitor Facebook activity or play a quick game of Angry Birds". It shows that sometimes kids would rather play and have fun then do school work and get lectured by a teacher for 8 hours 5 days in a row.
